The Payroll & Benefits Administration Coordinator supports the day-to-day execution of payroll and benefits operations for 600+ employees across Interface. This role partners closely with the Payroll Associate Manager, People Team, Finance, and Benefits vendors to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, and that employee benefits administration is handled smoothly and compliantly.
This position is ideal for someone with foundational payroll and HR operations experience who is looking to grow their expertise in multi-state payroll, benefits administration, and compliance within a collaborative People Team environment.
Responsibilities
Payroll Support
Support bi-weekly payroll processing and payroll reporting under the direction of the Payroll Associate Manager
Review timecards and payroll data for accuracy and completeness
Assist with processing manual checks related to terminations, adjustments, or corrections
Support payroll inputs including bonuses, commissions, and other variable compensation
Assist with calculating final pay and payroll adjustments in accordance with company policy
Respond to employee and manager payroll questions and escalate issues as needed
Maintain payroll records and documentation in alignment with internal controls
Benefits Administration Support
Support day-to-day benefits administration activities, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
Run and maintain routine benefits reports related to enrollments, eligibility, deductions, etc.
Support benefits audits, open enrollment preparation, and data reconciliation
State Tax Filings & Compliance Support
Assist with maintaining state payroll tax accounts and supporting state tax filings
Help ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Personnel Files & Employment Verifications
Assist employees with employment and income verification requests
Help ensure records are maintained in accordance with retention guidelines
People Team Support
Provide administrative and operational support to the broader People Team as needed
Assist with payroll documentation, process updates, and continuous improvement efforts
Perform additional duties as assigned in support of payroll and people operations
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience in payroll
Exposure to multi-state payroll or California preferred
Experience with Workday Payroll and/or ADP Smart Compliance is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desire to continue developing payroll, benefits, and compliance knowledge

Base range for this role is $25 - $30 an hour - based on experience. Pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to: relevant experience, skill set, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.
