Payroll Analyst

We’re looking for x2 Payroll Analysts to join our Bradford-based team on a 12‑month fixed-term contract. The role offers hybrid working, with two days per week based in the office.

You’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll administration within Blume Business Solutions, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll credit transfers, responding to payroll queries, and maintaining full compliance with statutory and company regulations to enhance customer efficiency, effectiveness, and trust.

What will you be doing?

  • Resolve complex payroll queries and issues, escalating when required.
  • Process payroll transactions accurately and on time.
  • Support payroll payments, including credit transfers and emergency CHAPS payments.
  • Ensure accurate statutory deductions and timely submission of all statutory returns, including taxable benefits.
  • Manage non‑statutory deductions, ensuring correct payments and returns to third‑party organisations.
  • Deliver high‑quality, customer‑focused payroll advice to employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor statutory and company changes and support timely payroll system updates in collaboration with IT teams.
  • Contribute to payroll projects and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and controls.

We tend to look for people with: 

Essential:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of payroll operations, including BACS processing and company pension schemes.
  • Working knowledge of payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, salary sacrifice, benefits in kind, and attachment of earnings orders.
  • Proven experience of end‑to‑end payroll processing, including month‑end and year‑end activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills and experience of Oracle systems and workflow or case management tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high‑volume payrolls efficiently.

Desirable:

  • Awareness of developments within payroll and Shared Services environments
  • Experience providing timely, detailed payroll reporting, information, and advice
  • Understanding of process improvement principles and their practical application
