Role Overview

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator plays a key role in supporting the payroll team’s day-to-day operations and administrative functions.

You will work closely with Payroll, People Services, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy, timely issue resolution, and adherence to company policies and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and validate payroll runs and reports in Workday
  • Process payroll changes, including vacation entries, manual adjustments, retroactive corrections, and terminations
  • Review and audit manual payroll adjustments for accuracy and timeliness
  • Validate payroll data and resolve input issues in collaboration with the Payroll Manager
  • Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs); respond to payroll-related inquiries
  • Support year-end activities, including T4/RL-1 preparation, reconciliations, and amendments
  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll practices, policies, and applicable legislation
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to EFT payments and other payroll issues
  • Prepare invoices and payment requests for garnishments, government remittances, and third-party vendors
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and external requests
  • Manage payroll inquiries through DC Assist (HALO) and ensure timely resolution
  • Identify trends and recommend process and service improvements
  • Draft and review payroll-related communications for clarity and accuracy
  • Maintain payroll documentation and update standard operating procedures and knowledge base
  • Provide administrative and operational support to Payroll team members
  • Build strong relationships with People Services, Finance, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide cross-training and backup support to ensure continuity of payroll operations
  • Assist with departmental scheduling, calendar management, and initiatives as assigned
  • Handle all payroll-related materials with confidentiality and discretion

What We’re Looking For

  • Post-secondary education in payroll, accounting, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification in progress or completed
  • 1–2 years of payroll experience in a fast-paced or high-growth environment
  • Hands-on experience with Workday or a similar HRIS/payroll system
  • Experience working with ticket-based delivery models (strong asset)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Strong attention to detail with a customer-service mindset
  • Proven ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Salary Range: The base annual salary range is $50,000- $65,000 (plus a bonus of up to 10% and competitive total rewards and benefits package). Salary is determined based on the candidate’s work experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
