Overview
Works under the supervision of a licensed team member and/or provider. Will perform specified functions and tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, point of care testing, and extremity splinting. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned practice or department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
What you will do
Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR, to include rooming patients within the RMG ambulatory practice setting.
Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing tasks and procedures competently/independently under direction of a licensed team member and/or provider. This may include the following procedures with an appropriate validated competency: vital signs, ice application, EKGs, limited specimen collection (nasal and throat swabs), POCT testing and splinting.
Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning workstations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
Demonstrates the ability to be able to take direction from the licensed team members and/or provider to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED, (Required) and
Associates Degree, in health care related field (Preferred) or
Bachelors Degree, in health care related field (Preferred)
Experience
1 year Prior health care experience in hospital, ambulatory or urgent care setting. (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Candidate must be able to obtain CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire. within 30 Days(Required) and
Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) In lieu of CNA certification, will accept EMT-B (Basic) from the Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or currently enrolled in LPN or RN diploma or degree program with at least 80 hours completed. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Virginia Department of Health (VDH) If not certified, candidate must be enrolled in EMT program and eligible to complete certification within six months of hire. Upon Hire(Required) or
