Position Summary:

The Seasonal Park Manager is responsible for operation of the Big Eau Pleine campgrounds, and/or the Dells of the Eau Claire campground.  The positions for the campgrounds are a customer service position including maintenance, fee collection, and compliance.  Hours will vary based on candidate availability, department needs, and weather.

Examples of Work Performed:

The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

  • Assists the public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Inspects park grounds and structures for cleanliness, safety, and state of repair.
  • Promptly reports all vandalism, unlawful behavior, or hazardous conditions to Operations Manager and law enforcement if necessary.
  • Keeps detailed records and makes regular reports such as fee collections and remittance, work requests, destruction and loss forms, public incident forms, etc.
  • May perform a variety of manual work including cleaning facilities and grounds, painting, landscaping, etc.  This item is specific to campgrounds.
  • May assist full-time employees in repair and maintenance work.
  • May set up facilities for special events or rental groups.
  • May use cleaning agents and other chemicals in performing tasks.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age. 
  • Valid driver’s license and a driving history that meets County standards.
  • Experience in customer service, facility cleaning, and grounds maintenance work desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, enforcing park rules, resolving problems, and providing information.
  • Skill in operating vehicles and equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.  Examples include half-ton trucks and golf carts.  This item is specific to campgrounds.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in keeping timely, accurate records related to fee collections and remittance, work requests, destruction and loss forms, public incident forms, etc.
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance activities and processes.  This item is specific to campgrounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to follow safety rules.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.

Compensation:

Starting hourly rate for Park Manager is $15.75 year one, $16.00 year two, and $16.25 year three. This is a seasonal position and there are no benefits.

Physical Requirements:

High Physical Requirements - Job requires significant physical exertion, with tasks that involve more active movement. This job may include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, or engaging in manual labor.  Physical requirements for Nine Mile are moderate and require a combination of desk work and some physical work.
