Paralegal / Junior Legal Counsel FTC

This is a fixed-term contract position for 3 months.

Role Specifications:

  • Managing Maven’s shareholder/transfer operations, escalating when necessary
  • Providing legal support and advice to the business on relevant legal issues for APAC and EU/Group jurisdictions
  • Dealing with trading matters e.g. reviewing trading agreements and liaising with relevant counterparties when appropriate
  • Negotiating and reviewing commercial agreements such as data agreements, service agreements and terms of business 
  • Advising on the interpretation and assisting in the implementation of new regulations and legislation where relevant, and working closely with the relevant teams
  • Assisting with new projects, including the launch of new business lines where relevant to your region and globally, where resource is needed (currently DORA and EU AI Act)
  • Dealing with any other non-trading related legal and contractual issues, such as employment-related issues, drafting local policies and assisting with local governance requirements, corporate filings, confidentiality agreements, property law, and data privacy
  • Working with the Local HR/Finance and other teams to ensure corporate compliance with various corporate disclosures as they arise
  • Keeping up with current changes in all relevant areas of law and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge of the company’s legal function
  • Mentor junior members of the team/assist with training where appropriate
  • Assisting with the Group company secretarial function
  • Where necessary, liaising with external counsel on any of the above

 

Candidate Specifications:

  • High level of integrity and ethical standards;
  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the legal sector (private practice or in-house) with a focus on the financial services industry is preferable;
  • An appetite to learn quickly on the job;
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical and drafting skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to develop constructive professional relationships across the business;
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, be creative and to tight deadlines; &
  • Self-motivated and team player.
