Within the COO Risk/Risk Tribe, the Asset & Liability Management (ALM) team is looking for a senior Ops Engineer to technically manage and support a platform with Microsoft-based applications and IT components. Besides technical management, maintenance and documentation of security control measures are part of the role. Also the engineer needs to be ‘hands-on’ and, very preferable, skilled in MS SQL Server Database (administration).
Your work environment
To enable ING’s monthly financial forecasting processes and to support ING stress tests, the ALM platform has been set up. The platform is used by ING business lines, Financial Risk, Finance and Bank Treasury for replication modelling, risk centralization, stress testing and financial forecasting. Technically, the ALM platform consists of an in-house developed data staging area, based on MS SQL Server, C#, Azure DevOps, other Microsoft components, an off-the-shelf application running on Windows OS (QRM) and ALM Reporting Area (Power BI).
Your ALM team is a so-called DevOps squad, combining expertise of, IT DEV and IT OPS specialists in close collaboration with business. The team works according to Agile scrum, which means that work is sliced and planned in sprints, and as a team you take responsibility to deliver value according to sprint planning. Together with your team, you are responsible for supporting a stable, standardized, and secure ALM platform. And together with all stakeholders, you jointly work towards the combined goal: have all the ING offices worldwide use one ALM standard.

Job description
Main services delivered by you are:
- Responsible for coordination of features or projects related to the IT components of the ALM department and underlying infra
- Responsible for availability, performance, security, monitoring, capacity management and lifecycle management of the applications, Windows Servers, Citrix, and MS SQL databases with SSAS and SSRS components
- Responsible for Incident-, Problem-, Change- and Configuration Management of the ALM applications
- Translate Security policies into requirements, implement and document security measures keeping ALM applications compliant with IT Risk Policies, Minimum Standards and Process Control Standards
- Explain Security requirements to stakeholders
- Coordinate, carry out and document IT security test procedures, e.g. related to SOX or other regulatory requirements
- Responsible for evidencing of applied security controls keeping IT Risk Measurement Platform (ITRMP) up-to-date and supporting internal and external auditing
- Carry out upgrades and clean installs and carry out patching in lower environments, analyse capacity issues, structure processes, run (C#) scripts
- Responsible for managing and carrying out deployments on the Test and Acceptance environments
- Align with ING Infra and ING Private Cloud departments where needed, e.g. about keeping Service-Now and CMDB in line with infra changes, patches, memory/CPU allocation, backup and restore, disaster recovery testing, security event monitoring
- Support (2nd Line support) the monthly business processes of the user groups. To do so, closely cooperate with 1st Line support, end-users and the Business Analysts within ALM value chain. Support analysis of incidents and problems, including root cause analysis and follow-up improvement stories
- Coordinate user access management of the applications
- Where requested, be a sparring partner in projects which are led by the Developers in your team, e.g. to ease future support and maintenance of new developments
- Providing expertise knowledge and support on MS SQL Server very well (backup/restore, performance tuning, SSIS/SSRS/SSAS, Always On)

- Willing to learn and understand business requests. You develop new insights and drive towards results
- Minimum of five years’ experience in application management, operations or infra roles, dealing with MS SQL Server and Windows Server
- Knowledgeable on and experience with MS SQL Server DB is very strong recommendation
- Knowledgeable on and experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SLA/SLO/SLI)
- Educated and capable to understand security policy documents (written in English)
- Fluent in (Dutch and) English
- In exceptional occasions if the team request you to, you are willing to work or be stand-by outside business hours
- Bachelor or Master degree
- Understanding of, or at least interest in the following:
- Standards in IT Security
- Deployment processes (pipelines) and cloud environments
- An Agile/Scrum way of working
- Financial processes.
