We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) with an interest in reproductive epidemiology, women’s health, population health, and health policy to lead research alongside members of the Reproductive Population Health Data Research Team led by Dr. Laura Schummers. Dr. Schummers’s team is part of the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) and located in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Vancouver campus. UBC is a global centre for research and teaching, consistently ranked among the top public universities globally. This team’s CIHR-funded program of research examines impacts of policy and practice change on reproductive population health using quantitative methods from epidemiology and patient-oriented research methods. This includes studies on optimal pregnancy spacing; abortion safety and access; impacts of policy changes on contraception and menopausal hormone therapy use, access, and outcomes; early pregnancy loss; and methodological work to create conception cohorts using population-based administrative health data.
The PDF will lead the design and conduct of research studies from start to completion, in collaboration with Dr. Schummers and the research team, including protocol development, data access requests, and knowledge translation. They will participate in and lead the writing and submission of funding applications. The PDF will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and trainees. Research will be performed with collaborators across the university, Canada, and international settings, including researchers, policy partners, patient partners, clinicians, and health system leaders. The PDF will be supported to apply for funding and lead original research studies, with the aim of developing an independent program of research and strong early career foundation.
