Location: East Anglia – Office based and onsite

Contract: Full, Time, Permanent

Salary up to £58,905 per annum, plus, £4,000 car allowance

42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)

MPS has been looking after residents’ homes for over 25 years. As part of the Mears Group, we focus on estate management and property maintenance, delivering tailored solutions that support people and communities. 

We provide a wide range of services; including responsive repairs, planned works, and cyclical maintenance to over 100 local authorities and housing providers across the UK. One of our key partners is Orbit, a major housing provider in the Midlands, East Anglia, and the South East, managing over 45,000 homes. 

Together, MPS and Orbit ensure residents receive timely, high-quality repairs and maintenance, with a strong emphasis on customer care, safety, and long-term value. 

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Operations Manager to lead our Orbit contract, overseeing Repairs, Major Repairs, and Damp, Mould & Condensation workstreams across East Anglia. This role is key in ensuring that all operational and commercial targets are met while delivering an excellent service to our client and residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of five Supervisors, ensuring high performance and effective service delivery.
  • Split time 50% office-based and 50% field-based, ensuring strong visibility and operational oversight.
  • Oversee the end-to-end running of all workstreams, ensuring tasks are completed within monthly business and commercial review cycles.
  • Manage major repair workflows, damp and mould programmes, and associated compliance and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, acting as the main operational point of contact.
  • Attend monthly operational meetings and weekly informal meetings with the client.
  • Travel to our Tonbridge office once per month, including occasional overnight stays.

Role Criteria:

  • Proven line management experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team of supervisors effectively.
  • Previous managerial experience, ideally within property maintenance or similar operational environments.
  • HR and people management expertise, including performance management, staff development, and team engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of building and property maintenance, with a practical understanding of repairs, major works, and damp/mould issues.
  • Technical awareness of trade operations, enabling oversight of supervisors’ workloads and day-to-day field activities.
  • Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel regularly across Ipswich, Norwich, and Tonbridge.
  • IT proficiency, particularly in Excel, to support operational reporting, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
