10‑Week Internship, Summer 2026

Role Summary:

Flowserve Corporation, a leading manufacturer and aftermarket service provider of comprehensive flow management products and services, has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Engineer Intern in Chesapeake, VA. This role provides exposure to all facets of the organization. As part of the broader Manufacturing Engineering function, the intern will support scheduling activities, resource alignment, and technical tasks associated with manufacturing projects. Responsibilities may include coordinating vendor interactions, tracking project progress, conducting time studies, and helping ensure projects meet planned requirements for quality and execution. The ideal candidate is an Industrial or Mechanical Engineering major who has completed junior year and is on track to graduate in May 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Incorporate SQDCG principles (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Growth) when defining expectations for tasks and outcomes.
• Outline and communicate the skills, tools, and methods the intern will be expected to learn or use, such as problem solving, project management, data analysis, and process mapping.
• Work with the current Manufacturing and Engineering team to understand the scope of each team, then establish a standard process to communicate and execute job routings and ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) in accordance with customer specifications and Flowserve Engineering Standards.
• Review job routings to standardize times for the manufacturing operations involved in completing pumps and aftermarket components.
• Participate in preparing plans in accordance with customer and contract requirements.
• Ensure customer (internal and external) satisfaction, accuracy, and timeliness of projects.

Requirements:

• Current college junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Local to Chesapeake, VA for summer 2026
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, drafting, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong collaborative interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with project management tools, methods, and applications
• Accountability in completing work on time and to specification

Preferred:

• Previous work experience or internships in a manufacturing or industrial setting
• Leadership roles on campus or in high school
• Interest in gaining experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with cross‑functional interaction across sales, applications engineering, project management, quality assurance, materials management, and manufacturing operations
