Job Title: Operational Risk Framework Design - Assistant Vice President
Location: Mumbai, India
Role Description
This position is within Operational Risk Management (ORM) within the 2nd Line of Defence (LoD). ORM is the Risk Type Head (RTH) function for Operational Risk (OR) and owns the overarching Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF).
The ORM Framework Design Team defines and designs the Framework to appropriately identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, report and escalate operational risks.
This role is responsible for supporting the framework lifecycle; by designing the framework and developing and implementing system-based solutions to support the framework’s execution.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with global ORM colleagues and stakeholders across the three lines of defence.
The team looks at various framework components, the key ones being – Event Management, Scenario Analysis, Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Transformation Risk Assessment, Controls Framework, Findings Management, Risk Appetite and Metrics.

Your key responsibilities
- Development and oversight of framework procedural documents
- Preparation of guidance and training material to improve the understanding and embeddedness of the framework across the bank.
- Consider feedback from various stakeholders (e.g., Business, Regulators, Audit) to develop and design framework requirements
- Perform impact analysis of potential design changes and liaising with key stakeholders to socialise changes
- Support the development of solutions and identify business requirements to connect data, processes and reporting across multiple ORM systems
- Support the overall agenda of ORM Framework and its related activities by increasing the cross-component knowledge, ensuring generalised understanding of all framework components, and the impact of the framework on the bank’s risk management activities
- Work closely with team members to support cross framework component collaboration and integration
- Support on enquiries from auditors and regulators
- Manage and mentor junior team members, addressing functional and interpersonal aspects
- Regular attendance at scheduled meetings and conferences, e.g., presentations of work results to senior decision-makers/working groups, partly also processing of meetings and telephone conferences (agendas, keeping the minutes)
- Support with urgent activities at short notice
- Exchange of specialist information with colleagues, e.g., by means of presentations / micro-trainings
- Other activities include regular governance and connect with relevant stakeholders etc.
Your skills and experience
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in banking, finance, economics, or business administration is desirable.
- More than seven years of relevant professional work experience
- Experience with any Framework component (designing and / or implementation) is desirable
- Professional experience in Operational Risk Management, Internal audit would be an advantage
- Working with teams spanning multiple geographical locations
- Preparation of presentations for senior management
- Business analysis and/or project management would be an advantage
- Managing various stakeholders, deadlines and adhering to regulatory/audit requirements would be an advantage

- Willingness to learn and acquire deep subject-matter / technical expertise
- Ability to prepare, participate/lead and document discussions & build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to engage, present and understand the requirements of senior management.
- Very good eye for detail, numerically literate and accurate with numbers
- Ability to work as part of an international team, but also self-reliant
- Ability to guide and develop junior team members by providing functional and professional support
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English along with project management
- Very good knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
