About the Opportunity

The Operational Cyber Security Lead is responsible for ensuring the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity practices across global operations. This role provides operational leadership to safeguard systems, data and infrastructure supporting large-scale, multi-national projects. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional global delivery teams to embed robust security controls and align with organizational risk management frameworks.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead day-to-day cybersecurity operations across multiple regions and time zones.

  • Oversee the security posture of global delivery projects, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure alignment with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, Aus Essential 8, GDPR and other relevant frameworks.

  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments and security reviews of delivery environments.

  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to address security-related contractual obligations.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for security across international teams, vendors and partners.

  • Support the rollout of global cybersecurity transformation programs.

  • Foster a culture of cyber awareness through training and engagement with technical and non-technical staff.

  • Oversee vulnerability assessments, threat intelligence integration and proactive risk mitigation strategies.

Here's What You'll Need 

  • Strategic Thinking - able to translate and balance technical requirements into business outcomes , ensuring alignment with security initiatives for global programmes.

  • Proactive Governance Mindset - experienced in managing frameworks (Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO27001 etc) and embedding controls into operations.

  • Risk Communication: Proven ability to translate complex cybersecurity risks and technical issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences, including executive and senior leadership teams.

  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with key security domains, including vulnerability management and patch governance, endpoint protection (EDR/XDR), identity and access management (Active Directory), and securing both on-premise and cloud environments (Microsoft 365 and Azure Security).

  • Analytical Capability: Skilled in interpreting security data such as vulnerability scans, posture metrics (e.g., Microsoft Secure Score) and incident trends to drive measurable improvements in security posture.

  • Global Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading and influencing stakeholders across global delivery teams, ensuring alignment and accountability for cybersecurity objectives in complex, multi-region environments.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Adept at partnering with Service Delivery, Project, and Vendor teams to embed consistent, scalable security practices across operations.

  • Continuous Learning & Innovation: Actively stays ahead of emerging threats, frameworks, and technologies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across teams.
