Hours: Full time / 37.50 Hours per week.

As an Oncology Specialist Dietitian, you shall be responsible for providing specialised nutritional advice to cancer patients undergoing a range of interventions as in and outpatients, including surgery Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Immunotherapy at Cromwell Hospital.  This post also covers our Oncology ward where patient may require nutritional interventions such as oral nutritional support, enteral and parenteral feeding. Further additional aspects of the role include supporting our ‘Holistic care clinic’ and supporting within a highly specialist Head and Neck surgical team/pathway which includes pre and post-operative clinics with our dedicated Head and Neck Specialist nursing and Speech and Language therapy team.

You will be working alongside 4 other Specialist Dietitians within the team who regularly collaborate in CPD sessions, Audit projects and Article/Marketing projects for BUPA.  There will be an expectation to cross-cover some additional Adult inpatients and outpatient caseload when the other team members are on leave which can include intensive care, medical and surgical caseloads. All Dietitians regularly support with some nutrition support and weight management outpatient work.

There is significant opportunity to further develop and expand the Oncology Dietetic Service. We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and adaptable dietitian with broad clinical experience to join our supportive and collaborative team. What you’ll do:

  • Provide specialist, evidence‑based nutritional care for oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgical pathways.
  • Manage inpatient, outpatient and day‑case oncology caseloads, including oral nutrition support, enteral feeding, and parenteral nutrition.
  • Lead nutritional care for Head & Neck cancer pathways and support the Holistic Care Clinic.
  • Deliver highly specialist oncology dietetic services across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Complete complex nutritional assessments and create tailored treatment plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate intervention outcomes.
  • Refer to or collaborate with other specialist dietitians when required.
  • Participate in MDT meetings and communicate effectively with consultants, nurses and allied health teams.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date patient records.
  • Contribute to policy, pathway and procedure updates.
  • Lead on innovation, including digital care, cancer pathway improvements, and data‑driven service evaluation.
  • Participate in departmental audits and act on findings.
  • Support marketing initiatives (articles, videos, podcasts, social media content).
  • Liaise with catering teams on menu planning and therapeutic diets.
  • Promote and develop the dietetic service and identify commercial opportunities.

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree or Master’s in Dietetics + HCPC registration.
  • 2–3+ years oncology experience (minimum).
  • Strong clinical background including enteral & parenteral nutrition.
  • Inpatient and outpatient experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Member of the BDA (Oncology Specialist Group preferred).
  • Experience supervising dietetic students.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently.
  • Experience in Critical Care or Bariatric dietetics.
  • Master’s‑level study/modules.
  • Experience in media writing.
