WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU
The Patient Access Director (PAD) is responsible for leading and coaching Primary Care Patient Access Coordinators (PACs) with a key focus on executing a patient-first approach to impact the patient access journey across their assigned region. The individual will report directly to the Senior Director, Patient Access. The individual will ensure regional and national alignment with the strategic vision of Pfizer Primary Care’s overarching access and reimbursement strategies and within the parameters of the organization’s compliance expectations/guidelines.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
Leadership
Align, deploy, motivate, engage, coach, and develop PACs.
Provide coaching and in-role development of PAC capabilities and the management of operational standards, evaluation of performance against access strategy, and ensure compliance.
Conduct frequent 1-1 sessions with PACs; document and provide observations and feedback to vendor supervisor in a timely manner.
Conduct Virtual-Ride-Alongs (ViRA) to observe patient and customer engagements, providing feedback on observations and opportunities.
Collaborate with fellow leaders to share successes, best practices and experiences while encouraging PACs to communicate across the region/nation.
Lead PACs towards successful execution of regional strategies and goals.
Partner with vendor supervisor to provide feedback, where applicable.
Conduct weekly team call to align on strategy, provide access education direction, pull through training, review access and reimbursement trends/dynamics.
When working with contracted PACs, will ensure all co-employment SOPs and compliance are upheld and followed.
Performance
Lead the regional execution Access & Reimbursement strategies and tactics; provide insights into Primary Care leadership, vendor leadership, franchise leaders, SAS, HUB, IM Sales, Payer Solutions and KAM leadership
Review KPI performance, MBOs, market and access trends, to assess regional performance and provide necessary PAC coaching to change tactics, execution, and/or strategy Optimize regional Access & Reimbursement through deployment, alignment, and FAL/PAC Coordination.
People and Culture
Accountable to develop a compliant culture that drives the Pfizer Values through People/HR Processes.
Lead and ensure a compliant culture within the region regarding all Pfizer policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
Market/Customer/Cross-Functional Team
Understand the customer, market drivers, and provide insights and feedback to internal stakeholders and vendors to influence Access & Reimbursement strategy.
Actively liaise consistent with Pfizer policy with cross- functional team as needed (e.g. SAS, Patient Solutions Marketing, Access and Patient Support Marketing, Brand Marketing, Legal, Compliance and HUB) to optimize appropriate patient services.
Facilitate effective communication by gathering feedback from PAC and FAL colleagues to provide perspective to vendor, leadership, Senior Director, and the cross-functional team on local customer market information, Pfizer marketing programs, trends, distribution, policies and procedures.
Align on and lead coordination with Field Access Director (FAD) on coordination and collaboration between FAL and PAC teams to ensure team they are operating to the highest standards, together.
Participate in business planning by providing input and feedback.
Maintain technical expertise in access & reimbursement knowledge, customer market perspective, and market knowledge.
Develop a thorough understanding of the drivers of local market dynamics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have
BA/BS degree with a minimum of 6+ years of experience.
Experience within the fields of pharmaceutical sales and/or coding and reimbursement. Your expertise will be crucial in leading teams through the complexities of healthcare coordination and patient case management.
Matrixed leadership experience preferred
General understanding of Access and Reimbursement, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs, and knowledge of the CGRP Payer Policy Dynamics.
Experience demonstrating exceptional communication and presentation skills, strategic planning, and success in plan implementation.
If secondee is a Field Access Lead, they will maintain oversight and execution of business-critical territory access and reimbursement needs.
Nice-to-Have
MBA/MS 5+ years of experience, PhD or JD with 1+ year of experience.
This individual must also have demonstrated influence leadership and success at working across multiple functions (external and internal) and be able to collaborate with various stakeholders to coordinate various unique objectives.
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly regulated environment and adhere to strict company compliance guidelines and procedures.
Proven history of collaborating broadly with a diverse range of customers, clients, and stakeholders.
Training in and experience in responsible business communications, both written and spoken.
Deep understanding of evolving Healthcare market and reimbursement models to include value-based contracting, buy and bill, and specialty pharmacy (Defined Distribution Networks)
Direct line leadership experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptional relationship building skills; demonstrated Trust & Integrity.
Deliver meaningful & concise presentations.
Outstanding collaboration and networking abilities.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities such as: Lead and be accountable for the Region’s HR-related processes to include, but not limited to: consistency in interviewing and hiring practices, Annual Goal Setting and Year-End Process (e.g. Team Performance and Year End Reviews), Annual Compensation Process (i.e. Merit, and LTI), a:Coach, Career Progression and Talent Planning (e.g. Talent Assessments and IDPs).
