Scope of Position

Sonographer may perform obstetrical, gynecological, and fetal echocardiogram ultrasound examinations as ordered at all OSUWMC Ambulatory Imaging locations and inpatient care sites, as well as MFM/WI contracted Outreach sites.

Position Summary

The employee in this position performs all duties of an OB/GYN sonographer. Additionally, the lead sonographer coordinates daily workflow, assignments, patient flow, and provides support to the operation of the department. The lead sonographer provides assistance to the Imaging Manager in assessing sonographer’s performance as well as orienting new staff to the Women’s Imaging Department. The lead sonographer may cover additional Women’s Imaging Manager responsibilities, as necessary, in the Manager’s absent, or should a vacancy occur. The lead sonographer must be certified by the ARDMS for the specialty OB/GYN examination.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound school. Individual needs to be registry eligible or certified by the ARDMS in OB/GYN. Previous and significant high-risk OB/GYN ultrasound experience is required.
