The Division of Nursing Research is seeking applicants for a full-time Nursing Research Specialist I or II. This position primarily helps to implement and sustain a research focus in the Division of Nursing Research and Patient Care Services with the goal being to improve patient care. Assumes responsibilities for independently overseeing the daily conduct of assigned studies including designing and evaluating improvements of data collection procedures and interventions to improve study accrual and data handling issues. Contributes to the conceptualization and evaluation of study purposes, designs and methods. Maintains study statistics and interprets and disseminates study findings. Adheres to regulatory standards and ensures that colleagues and collaborators do the same. Leads institutional research-related projects and serves as a study coordinator for multiple sites involved in assigned studies. Serves as a research resource for others within St. Jude.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation of research designs and methodologies, data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of study findings.

  • Participate in implementing and sustaining a research focus in Patient Care Services.

  • Contribute to the conceptualization of research ideas and studies.

  • Identify difficulties or challenges with data collection procedures and work to troubleshoot/problem solve those issues.

  • Actively participate in selected institutional collaborative research efforts; Validate and maintain data integrity.

  • Develop and facilitate educational programs including educational aids.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational offerings and make changes based on feedback received.

  • Comply with hospital and departmental standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Nursing Research Specialist I:

  • Minimum requirement: 3+ years of relevant experience participating in research or other related field.

  • Working knowledge of computers for data entry and analysis as well as for dissemination of research findings, preferred.

  • Familiarity with writing scientific findings and in making public presentations, preferred.

Nursing Research Specialist II:

  • Minimum Requirement: 5+ years of relevant experience participating in research or other related field.

  • Completion of thesis or research study as part of graduate work OR some experience performing a major role in a research study, preferred.

  • Working knowledge of computers for data entry and analysis as well as for dissemination of research findings, preferred.

  • Proficient with writing scientific findings and in making public presentations, preferred.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and their application.

  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC: RN-TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state.

  • (LC: RN-MS, RN-ARK or RN-KY) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Nursing Research Specialist I or II.
