The Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist is a skilled member of the allied health care team, who is expected to practice at the highest level of their licensure. This requires providers to stay up to date with the latest evidence based medicine. They work collaboratively with the Physician Hospitalist to facilitate acute care of the adult patient. This individual works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, case managers and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach. The physician assistant participates in all aspects of care of the hospitalized patient including admissions, discharge, daily rounds and patient education.
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program

Preferred/Optional: Previous experience in a hospital setting
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Certification from the National Commission on Certifications of Physicians Assistants or
Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body. Must be eligible to obtain or already hold a current applicable State Physician Assistant/NP licensure.
If NP, Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber Certification awarded by the State of Wisconsin.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire. Additional department-specific, certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
