Job Summary
The NPI Lead Quality Engineer at Jabil Inc. will be responsible for ensuring the successful launch of new products by driving quality excellence throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept to mass production. This role involves leading quality initiatives, mitigating risks, and implementing robust quality systems to deliver high-quality, reliable products to customers.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and manage all quality-related activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, acting as the primary quality interface for cross-functional teams.
Develop and implement comprehensive quality plans for NPI projects, including FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), control plans, and inspection strategies.
Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) initiatives, collaborating with design and engineering teams to identify and resolve potential quality issues early in the design phase.
Conduct critical design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR) to assess design maturity, identify risks, and ensure adherence to quality standards and customer requirements.
Establish and monitor key quality metrics (e.g., DPMO, yield, defect rates) for NPI builds, analyzing data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities for NPI-related quality issues, working with suppliers and internal teams to implement effective solutions.
Perform supplier quality assessments and collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components for NPI projects.
Oversee the qualification and validation of new manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring they meet specified quality and reliability standards.
Prepare and present quality reports and updates to project teams and management, highlighting key quality risks, progress, and mitigation plans.
Mentor and guide junior quality engineers, fostering a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the NPI team.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949 if applicable) and customer-specific quality requirements.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent technical field). Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in quality engineering, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI) within a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience with quality tools and methodologies, including FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, 8D, and Six Sigma.
Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) and manufacturing processes.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive quality initiatives from concept to production.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.
Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and quality management systems.
ASQ certifications (CQE, CSSBB) are highly desirable.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
