F5 is seeking a NGINX Evangelist to lead advocacy for NGINX open-source technologies. In this role, you’ll craft engaging presentations, technical tutorials, sample code, and videos that highlight real-world use cases, while representing NGINX at industry conferences and virtual events.
Blending deep technical expertise with storytelling and community building, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping NGINX top-of-mind for our core audiences. You’ll explore intersections with emerging technologies like AI and Rust, helping users unlock new possibilities. Primary Responsibilities
Represent NGINX at conferences and virtual events, showcasing demos and connecting with users in authentic conversation.
Engage with users on the NGINX community forum by publishing thought-leadership content and actively responding to technical questions
Build relationships with industry thought leaders, influencers, and open-source communities to strengthen NGINX community.
Create deep-dive technical posts, videos, and tutorials that illustrate practical use cases for developers, DevOps and Platform Engineering teams.
Develop and maintain sample code and reference apps that help users get started quickly.
Act as a bridge between the NGINX open source community and internal teams—actively gather user feedback and feature requests to help shape product requirements and influence the roadmap.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
8+ years of experience in software engineering or developer/DevOps tooling roles ideally for open-source products and solutions.
At least 3–5 years in DevOps/Platform Engineering advocacy, developer relations, or similar external-facing technical roles.
Technical Depth: Hands-on experience with NGINX, Kubernetes including the emerging Gateway API, CI/CD pipelines and automation. Familiarity with multiple API protocols and emerging AI gateway solutions.
Evangelism Expertise: Proven ability to tell stories that resonate with developers, Cloud Architects and technical decision makers through talks, content, demos, or community building.
Scalable Mindset: Experience packaging technical solutions into reusable assets (code samples, workshops, demos) rather than one-off implementations.
Strong Communicator: Ability to translate between deep technical detail and executive-level outcomes. Skilled at articulating how workflows solve real-world problems at scale.
Ability to effectively lead & own project initiatives independently
Great teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, working across global teams and organizations (often virtual) work environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills including public presentations
Must be willing to travel extensively to attend technical conferences and represent NGINX at industry events.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in software engineering or developer/DevOps tooling roles.
At least 3–5 years in DevOps/Platform Engineering advocacy for open source tools, developer relations, or similar external-facing technical roles.

The annual base pay for this position is: $176,000.00 - $264,000.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
