Program Eligibility:
RN Residency: A program designed for newly licensed ** RNs (or international equivalent) with less than 12 months of nursing experience to attain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet standards of nursing practice relevant to the practice setting.
Must be a graduate of an accredited ASN/ADN, BSN or MSN program.
* Please note: Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) is required. New hires and transfers must obtain BSN within four (4) years from hire.
Must hold current Registered Nurse Licensure – issued by the State of California at time of hire
NCLEX: Exam status must be passed or scheduled
Current Basic Life Support Certification - issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire

Work Schedule Expectations:
This position requires flexibility during the residency program and orientation. Residents will work a varied schedule that will include a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts, as well as different start times, to support training requirements and operational needs.
Job Description:
Works under the supervision of the Director. The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individualized care in a patient care area according to departmental policies and procedures and Nurse Practice Act. She/he will individualize patient care based upon the age appropriate and developmental needs and will accept responsibility for the direction of co-workers in the implementation of the plan of care. Collaborates with physicians, patient/families and members of the health care team in delivering a plan of care. Utilizes positive communication skills. May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) required. New hires and transfers must obtain BSN within four (4) years from hire regardless of position held at Salinas Valley Health.
Licenses: Current California RN license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards. *See unit specific certification requirements below.
Experience: Must have successfully completed SVH Pharmacology test.
Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $69.29. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
Shift Differentials:
Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $3.00
Hourly Night Shift Differential: $6.00
