About this role
As a Vice President, Network Operations Engineering (NOE), you will lead the transformation of traditional Network Operations (NOC) into a modern, engineering-led Network Operations Engineering function. This role combines operational leadership with engineering rigor, focusing on automation, reliability, and AI-driven operations to deliver highly resilient, scalable network services.
The NOE organization is evolving from reactive incident management to a proactive, automation-driven operating model, emphasizing continuous service improvement, reduced manual intervention, and increased engineering ownership of production environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drive NOC → NOE Transformation
Lead the transition from a traditional, shift-based NOC to an engineering-led, automation-first operations function
Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
Shift focus from reactive incident handling to proactive prevention and reliability engineering
Align operations to Platform Engineering principles and product-based delivery models
2. End-to-End Network Operations Ownership
Own 24x7 global network operations, ensuring stability, performance, and availability of network services
Lead incident management, escalation, and command-center coordination across regions
Ensure rapid detection, triage, and recovery for all network incidents
Drive consistent operational execution across global teams
3. Automation, AI, and Operational Engineering
Build and scale automation frameworks, runbooks, and auto-remediation pipelines
Drive adoption of AI-enabled operations (AIOps) including predictive alerting and intelligent triage
Reduce manual effort and shift workloads toward engineering and system improvement
Deliver measurable improvements in automation coverage, alert noise reduction, and MTTR
4. Reliability, Observability, and Performance Engineering
Define and track operational KPIs including MTTR, incident trends, and service stability metrics
Establish a data-driven observability and monitoring framework
Lead initiatives to improve alert quality, signal-to-noise ratio, and service health visibility
Embed reliability engineering practices into day-to-day operations
5. Change Execution & Risk Management
Oversee execution of standardized and automated network changes
Reduce operational risk through pre-approved patterns, automation, and validation controls
Ensure adherence to change management and compliance requirements
6. Engineering Collaboration & Platform Integration
Partner with Network Engineering, SRE, Security, and Platform teams
Enable seamless handoffs through high-quality operational data, documentation, and incident context
Contribute to network modernization, cloud adoption, and infrastructure transformation programs
7. People Leadership & Capability Development
Lead and develop a global team of engineers, focusing on:
Technical depth and cross-skilling
Automation and engineering mindset
Leadership pipeline and career growth
Transition team skillsets from operations-focused to engineering-focused capabilities
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning
What You Bring
10+ years of experience in network operations, engineering, or infrastructure management
Proven leadership in large-scale, mission-critical network environments
Demonstrated experience driving NOC transformation and automation initiatives
Strong expertise in:
Network technologies (Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, routing, VXLAN)
Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Observability, monitoring, and automation tools
Experience with AI/ML-driven operations or AIOps platforms
Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
