JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determines and deploys robust, stable, and manageable IT network infrastructure and computing services.
  • Develops network configurations from design models and templates.
  • Designs feature enhancements to ensure systems continue running smoothly.
  • Ensures safe and efficient network operations by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components, enforcing policies and responding to network connectivity issues.
  • Identifies network issues and determines and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies and categorizes incoming threats in order to allow the organization to efficiently respond to prioritized issues and ensure rapid recovery.
  • Diagnoses systems failures quickly and accurately.
  • Performs scheduled configuration changes to network switches and routers, firewalls and wireless devices.
  • Collaborates with other team members and groups to identify and develop scalable network designs, solutions, and policy recommendations.
  • Works with underlay and overlay controllers for network creation, network modeling, and network deployments across multiple virtualized OS environments using plugins.
  • Works with partner teams to build/re-use open-source systems wherever possible to accelerate development and delivery of solutions.
  • Scans the market to assess technology, product and tools applicable to the organization’s network environment, performing impact analysis of new technologies, and explores new solution to increase network reliability and to drive efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Performs peer reviews of code / deliverables and analysis for continuous learning and continuous improvement.
  • Routing Protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, Redistribution, Route Filtering.
  • Switching & Data Center: Nexus (VPC, VDC), Catalyst, STP, RSTP, PVST, VLANs, Trunking (802.1q), EtherChannel, FEX, F5 Load Balancers.
  • Security: ACLs, VPNs (IPSec), Firewalls (ASA/Checkpoint), TACACS/RADIUS.
  • WAN/Protocols: MPLS, Frame Relay, PPP, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP.
  • Tools & Methodologies: Wireshark, Visio, Network Monitoring (SolarWinds), SDN, WAN Optimization.
  • Core Responsibilities: L3 Troubleshooting, Design, Implementation, Performance Tuning, Project Ownership, Mentoring, Documentation. 


Job Requirements:

  • Experience with complexity analysis and software design
  • Experience with networking protocols and technologies, including end-to-end packet flow, forwarding and routing, and switching
  • Experience in enterprise network operations, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting
  • Experience in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with open-source technologies
  • Understand cloud fundamentals

Decision Authority:

  • Leads projects or work streams independently and contributes to their planning
  • May act as professional expertise information resource for colleagues in own area, advising on a particular topic with a degree of authority
  • Requires advanced problem-solving skills involving filtering, interpretation and validation of dynamic information
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance
  • May coordinate resources for a small team and contribute to the effectiveness of their contributions to the broader area


Skills:

  • 8+ years designing, deploying, and managing complex, large-scale enterprise networks, specializing in core routing/switching (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), data center fabrics (Nexus VPC/VDC), and high-availability solutions (HSRP, F5 Load Balancing). Proven ability to lead critical projects, optimize network performance, and provide expert L3 resolution for intricate issues, ensuring maximum uptime and seamless connectivity.
