National Sales Director, Institutional Team

Location: United States (Remote with travel)

Department: Commercial – Institutional Sales

Reports To: VP, Sales

Position Summary

  • The National Sales Director (NSD) will lead Azurity’s Institutional Sales Team, driving commercial excellence, strategic growth, and execution across the hospital and institutional business segments. This individual will oversee regional sales leaders, align cross-functional teams, and ensure that sales strategies and performance objectives are effectively executed to meet and exceed company goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction to the Institutional Sales Team.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Market Access, Sales Operations, and Medical Affairs to execute aligned commercial strategies.
  • Develop and implement sales plans, forecasts, and key performance metrics to drive revenue and market share growth.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Regional Sales Directors and field leadership to build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage data and analytics to assess market dynamics, identify opportunities, and optimize territory alignment and resource deployment.
  • Lead institutional customer engagement strategy, including large IDNs, hospitals, and group purchasing organizations (GPOs).
  • Collaborate with HR and Talent Development to build and sustain a high-performing sales organization through targeted recruitment, onboarding, and development programs.
  • Serve as a key member of the Institutional leadership team, contributing to broader business strategy and decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience, including at least 4–5 years in a direct people-leadership role.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional commercial teams (Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Strategy).
  • Experience within institutional or hospital-focused pharmaceutical sales is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven track record of driving results in a cross-functional environment.
