Our Asia Pacific Investments business has a large, dedicated and highly experienced investment team which has been investing across the region since 1985, and manages all our Asian products, including regional, country, smaller companies, and sustainable investing propositions.
The team has a strong regional footprint with offices in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, and Sydney. This breadth gives us close proximity to the companies we own and the markets we invest in. Our APAC operations have been based in Singapore since 1992. We invest in Asian companies to grow with them and to help them to become better investors
Role Purpose
The Multi-Asset (Equity Focused) Execution Dealer – APAC is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and compliant execution of trades across Asian markets, with a core focus on cash equities and complementary exposure to fixed income, FX, and listed/OTC derivatives. The role supports portfolio managers and investment teams by delivering best execution outcomes, high-quality market insight, and strong operational discipline within a centralised execution function.
The dealer will demonstrate sound judgment across order strategy, liquidity selection, timing, and market impact, operating across diverse market microstructures and time zones while adhering to APAC regulatory standards and internal control frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Execution & Market Coverage
- Execute cash equity trades across Asian markets in line with portfolio manager instructions, best execution standards, and regional market conventions
- Manage trade flow across multiple time zones, exchanges, and liquidity venues
- Apply strong judgment in timing, algorithm selection, order strategy, and venue routing to minimise slippage and market impact
- Monitor intraday market conditions, liquidity, and volatility to optimise execution outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact for portfolio managers, analysts, and investment teams on execution strategy and market conditions
- Maintain strong working relationships with brokers, counterparties, and trading venues across the region
- Provide market colour, post-trade feedback, and execution insights to investment teams
- Collaborate closely with operations, compliance, and technology teams to ensure a seamless trade lifecycle.
Risk, Controls & Governance
- Ensure all trading activity complies with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and regional market rules
- Adhere to trading limits, mandates, and escalation procedures
- Support post-trade processes, including trade affirmation, allocation accuracy, and issue resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement of execution controls, documentation, and governance standards.
Market & Product Knowledge
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Asian equity markets, including local regulations, trading mechanics, and settlement practices
- Understand interactions between equities and other asset classes where relevant to execution decisions
- Stay informed on market structure developments, new trading venues, and regulatory changes.
Process Improvement & Team Contribution
- Support initiatives to enhance execution quality, efficiency, and consistency across the region
- Contribute to regional and global execution projects, including system enhancements and workflow optimisation
- Act as a collaborative member of the global execution team, sharing knowledge and best practice
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in equity trade execution, ideally covering Asian markets
- Strong understanding of equity market microstructure, liquidity dynamics, and execution strategies
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, time-sensitive trading environments
- High attention to detail with a strong risk and control mindset
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with investment professionals
- Hold the relevant CMFAS examinations.
Desirable / Advantageous
- Exposure to Fixed Income and/or FX markets, particularly within a multi-asset context
- Experience working within a regional or global execution function
- Familiarity with electronic trading platforms, OMS/EMS tools, and post-trade workflows
- Understanding of regulatory requirements across Asian markets.
