Overview

We are seeking a MuleSoft Architect / Technical Lead to support a major enterprise-wide GIS modernization and standardization program for a leading gas & electric utility. This role focuses on designing and leading integration architecture that enables GIS platforms to support critical utility operations including infrastructure planning, emergency response, and asset management. This is a hybrid role in Oakland, CA requiring 2–3 days onsite per week.

Key Responsibilities

·       Lead enterprise integration architecture supporting GIS modernization initiatives

·       Design API-led connectivity frameworks integrating GIS platforms with enterprise systems

·       Architect integrations across GIS, asset management, outage management, and work management systems

·       Provide technical leadership and governance for MuleSoft development teams

·       Define standards for API design, DataWeave transformations, and event-driven architecture

·       Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of GIS-related integrations

·       Implement secure integrations aligned with utility regulatory standards (e.g., NERC CIP)

·       Oversee CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies for MuleSoft environments

·       Collaborate with enterprise architects and GIS stakeholders to align technology strategy

·       Drive root cause analysis, performance optimization, and system reliability improvements

Required Qualifications

·       8–12+ years of experience in enterprise integration or architecture roles

·       5+ years of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform experience (Mule 4)

·       Strong experience with API-led connectivity and enterprise integration patterns

·       Experience integrating GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS or similar)

·       Experience working in highly regulated industries (utilities, energy, etc.)

·       Strong understanding of integration security and compliance

·       Proven experience leading technical teams and architectural decisions

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience with utility systems including SCADA, outage management, and asset management

·       Familiarity with NERC CIP or similar regulatory frameworks

·       Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

·       Knowledge of event-driven and streaming architectures

·       MuleSoft certifications (Integration Architect preferred)

Salary Range

$98,040.00 - $154,800.00 USD (Salary)
