The MRO Buyer plays an essential role in ensuring our facilities have the Maintenance, Repair, and Operating (MRO) materials and services needed to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. In this role, you help maintain uninterrupted manufacturing and healthcare service operations by securing critical parts and services on time, at a competitive cost, and in alignment with company standards.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase MRO materials, components, and services—including spare parts, tools, consumables, facility supplies, and contractor services—in accordance with GEHC policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, assessing performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
- Manage purchase orders from requisition through delivery, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Partner closely with maintenance, engineering, production, and finance teams to understand MRO needs, forecast demand, and identify cost‑saving or efficiency opportunities.
- Implement and support inventory‑control strategies that minimize stockouts and optimize working capital.
- Address supplier‑related issues, such as quality concerns, delivery delays, or invoice discrepancies, with a solutions‑oriented approach.
- Contribute to the improvement of procurement processes, tools, and strategies that enhance reliability and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in MRO purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles (experience in a capital equipment–heavy environment is helpful but not required).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and sustain supplier relationships.
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for purchasing or inventory management.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and schematics.
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to walk, stand, or bend in warehouse environments as needed; may occasionally require lifting 25–50 lbs with reasonable accommodations available.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a manufacturing or healthcare operations environment.
- Familiarity with continuous‑improvement or process‑enhancement initiatives.
- Prior involvement in supplier performance evaluation or development.
