Summary
Job Description:
The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist or licensed independent practitioner. This role exercises professional judgment, ensures patient safety, and provides compassionate care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Perform MRI procedures according to physician orders and established protocols
Adjust scanning parameters to optimize image quality and diagnostic accuracy
Monitor patients during exams and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions
Review images for quality, positioning, and artifacts prior to submission
Obtain and document relevant patient medical history, including implant and safety screening
Educate patients on MRI procedures, preparation, and safety precautions
Maintain accurate documentation of imaging procedures and patient information
Perform daily equipment checks and quality control procedures
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and imaging staff to ensure quality outcomes
Adhere to MRI safety standards, infection control policies, and regulatory guidelines
Participate in continuing education and department training activities
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Technical Diploma required
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology training program required
No minimum experience required
Two years of MRI Technologist experience in a hospital or medical imaging facility preferred
Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
Advanced ARRT Registry in MRI required within one year of hire
Current Commonwealth of Kentucky Radiation License through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy required
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire
Must maintain eligibility for professional registration and required certifications
