Mission Technology Solutions (MTS) Growth Team - Solution Architect Intern

Project Overview

KBR is seeking highly motivated rising Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate students interested in how companies grow, compete, and win new work. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to business development, solving customer challenges, and solution shaping, working alongside experienced business development and solution architect professionals to help translate customer needs into compelling business and mission solutions. Interns will gain practical experience in research, analysis, collaboration, and professional communication as part of KBR’s 2026 Intern class. Interns will be engaged in projects applying AI tools, Large Language Models to solve problems and challenges in business development and mission technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative approaches for high-impact projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine business processes, tools, and technical solutions.

  • Analyze existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and propose actionable recommendations supported by data.

  • Support the creation of presentations, white papers, and reports for internal stakeholders and government clients.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively through written reports and group presentations.

  • Contribute to developing knowledge management systems and content for KBR capabilities, standard solutions, and technical performance.

  • Apply AI tools like Microsoft Copilot to develop production-quality sales and technical content to support new business growth.

Learning Outcomes & Impact

The intern will report directly to a senior employee within the department and will collaborate closely with both business development and operations teams. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on real-world challenges while developing foundational skills in solutions architecture and technical analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or STEM related fields.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex systems and propose improvements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset; enjoys working in team environments.

  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the principles of solutions architecture or systems engineering.

  • Basic understanding of government contracting processes or project management methodologies.

  • Exposure to technical problem-solving, modeling, data analytics, or optimization tools is a plus.

Additional Information

Interns will be offered the opportunity to work in a hybrid office environment, co-located nearby their KBR Mentor with other summer interns. The MTS Solutions Architect Intern team may itself be distributed at different KBR locations working with mentors located at those offices.
