Position Overview:

Location: Fort McMurray, AB | Monday–Friday (5x2) | Full-Time, Permanent

The Mining Product Support Specialist is a key member of the Finning Business Development and Aftermarket Support team, responsible for driving market share growth of assigned products and services with a specific focus on GET (Ground Engaging Tools) growth and support for a major oilsands customer.

This role is based in Fort McMurray, with the option of a Monday–Thursday fly‑in/fly‑out rotation with camp accommodations.

This interdisciplinary position is accountable for the commercial success of designated product groups or services within an assigned geography or customer base. As a specialty role, the Product Support Specialist is responsible for introducing and selling specialized solutions, services, products, and parts to both new and existing customers. The primary focus is to grow targeted commodity, solution, or service sales—specifically GET—within a defined territory or strategic customer group.

This role serves as a secondary resource on accounts in support of the Product Support Sales Representative, providing technical expertise, solution development, and focused growth initiatives aligned to customer needs and Finning’s strategic objectives.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • (40%) Execute on the Go To Market (GTM) strategy and plan for assigned products and solutions.

  • (30%) Work in partnership with the product and technical teams to ensure customer feedback and insights from the regions and the sales force are fed back into product development.

  • (20%) Participate in business development / sales calls in order to support sales teams with solutions under scope (and bringing in product teams if needed).

  • (10%) Develop a sound knowledge of the industry, customer pain points, the competitive environment and trends, and the effect on the Finning Performance Solutions business.

Specific Skills:

This role requires a challenging collection of skills, making the ideal candidate for this position an interdisciplinary blend of the following:

  • Customer communication skills. Work in partnership with the product and technical teams to ensure customer feedback and insights from the regions and the sales force are fed back into product development.

  • Sales and business development skills. As need, be a significant contributor to customer sales calls where a digital solution is part of the solution being proposed to a customer. As such, this role requires the ability to plan effectively for sales meetings, to be comfortable and inquisitive with the customer to zero in on their unsolved business problems.

  • The ability to lead by influence. In order to accomplish this role’s objectives, the individual must develop and leverage trust and credibility with regional leaders, in order to advance the role’s objectives. This is innately a skill that some people appear to have, while others are only comfortable leading through authority.

Accountability:

  • Accountable for the overall financial performance and commercial success of assigned products in the marketplace.

  • Meet established targets for sales and number of calls

  • Develop and maintain client information data utilizing Finning’s CRM software

  • Maintain sound customer relationships

  • Maintain open communication with customers, Product Manager and other applicable groups in the company

  • Represent the Company in a professional and ethical manner

Knowledge, Education & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of Heavy Equipment, Construction, Mining, or Power Systems (asset)

  • Previous experience with GET (Ground Engaging Tools) considered a strong asset

  • Sound knowledge of specialized products, services, and technical applications

  • Ability to test, measure, and evaluate equipment performance with accuracy

  • Commitment to following and promoting all safety procedures

  • Technical and/or parts experience supporting equipment operations and solutions

  • Minimum 2 years of technical sales experience

  • Demonstrated success in marketing or sales operations, with the ability to engage internal sales teams, channel partners, and customers

  • Exceptional persuasion skills with confidence presenting to audiences at all seniority levels

  • Highly self‑driven, tenacious, and optimistic, consistently bringing energy, passion, and positivity to the team
