The Team:

The Middle Office group takes on the unique clients and projects that do not fit in the core business offering of WSO Services. This group is responsible for loan trade settlement operations.

The Impact:

The goal of a Middle Office Associate is to oversee Trade Settlement client relationships. Provide excellent customer service and loan settlement services to our growing client base while adhering to strict deadlines and targets given. The position offers exposure to external industry entities such as portfolio managers, custodians, and agent banks. You will understand the team's broader goals and how your work plays a critical role in our overall success, consistently looking for ways to improve quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client portfolios and agency trades in loan trade settlement outsourcing services.

  • Proactively communicate with clients to resolve settlement issues

  • Coordinate with trade counterparties to review par and distressed trade documentation.

  • Work with legal counsel for distressed trades and participations.

  • Facilitate trade closings among clients, counterparties, and agents.

  • Review trade documentation for discrepancies, including trade confirms, assignment agreements, and funding memos, paying close attention to detail to identify potential issues early.

  • Follow up on outstanding trades and maintain updated comments.

  • Deliver closing packets to custodians and clients before deadlines, assessing urgency in tasks allocated to you.

  • Report client metrics and trends monthly.

  • Take initiative to provide support to the team.

  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 1+ years of experience in distressed loans and trade fee calculations, alongside experience with daily loan transactions.

  • BA or BS in Accounting or Finance.

  • Knowledge of par and distressed loans and related documentation.

  • Familiarity with trade fee calculations and credit agreements.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce output while meeting specific timelines and quality targets.

  • Strong work ethic and initiative, demonstrating a resourceful and solution-oriented approach.

  • Ability to perform duties accurately and timely, determining a course of action based on clear guidelines.

  • Adherence to deadlines and targets.

  • Strong customer service skills, understanding how your own behavior is impacted in different situations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, actively participating in collaborative efforts and team discussions.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment, acting as a team player by being supportive and collaborative.

  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to ClearPar, TSI, or Markit WSO systems is a plus.

  • Ability to prepare reports and metrics for internal management or client requests.

  • Assist other WSO groups during quarter-end or high-volume periods, seeking ways to work with others and contribute outside of your given tasks.

  • Ability to generate new ideas and think outside the box to improve settlement workflows.
