The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Mid-level Operations Analysis/Systems Engineer to join our Vertical Lift team located in Mesa, AZ or Ridley, PA.
The Operations Analysis candidate will have domain experience in military helicopter aviation to apply quantitative and qualitative methods, optimization, and simulation to support business development, systems engineering, product modernization and improvement as it relates to operational effectiveness.
This engineer will evaluate customer/operational needs to define and inform system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Primary Responsibilities
Partner with internal Boeing and military customers to define operational problems and success metrics.
Perform competitor assessments across helicopter / UAS markets and deliver to business developers.
Perform Capability Based Assessments (CBA) and cost effectiveness analysis.
Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and Trade Studies for Design and Sub-Systems
Support requirements definition, derivation and validation.
Perform sensitivity, scenario, and uncertainty analyses to quantify risks and tradeoffs.
Perform survivability analysis.
Communicate technical results and recommended actions to non-technical stakeholders through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
Contribute to cross-functional projects, sharing best practices and mentoring engineers and business developers outside the group.
Identifies opportunities for evolutionary or revolutionary product concepts by predicting future customer requirements through operations analyses and development of high-level models associated with operational scenarios when required.
This position requires an active Secret clearance level U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5+ years of military operational experience as a rated rotary wing aviator. Service in an Apache attack Helicopter Battalion or Air Cavalry Squadron is desired.
Experience working with engineering / integrated product teams to resolve issues and integrate solutions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Familiarity with combat simulation tools (ATCOM, AFSIM, JCATS, ONESAF) and stochastic process modeling is desired.
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Magic System of Systems Architect (MSOSA) model or IBM Rhapsody is desired.
Familiarity with DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System).
Familiarity with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) tools is desired.
Familiarity with geospatial analysis / mission planning tools (AMPS) and human-in-the-loop simulation is desired
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
