As a Microsoft Power Platform Software Engineer, you will help our internal business and IT customers create value by leveraging the services that the Cloud (Azure) and low-code platforms provide. Whether you are helping customers refactor existing processes, identify service opportunities, or design and implement solutions, this role is key to helping Markel move toward a more dynamic and innovative future.
This is an excellent opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the Microsoft Power Platform and associated services. You will join an emerging, dynamic technical engineering and support team of dedicated innovators.
In this role, you will proactively deliver solutions that reduce operational issues, help business and IT teams build scalable applications, and provide value-added support. You will also help evolve these services to match Markel’s current and future needs.

Job Responsibilities:
Consult with internal customers globally to define requirements and design, implement, and
manage automation solutions
Identify and recommend new automation opportunities and integrations in response to internal
customer requests
Administer and enhance existing automation solutions and services, ensuring continuous
improvement of service offerings
Establish and manage system governance through configuration standards and policy
enforcement
Implement and maintain security controls for automation solutions to ensure compliance with
organizational security standards
Oversee licensing, access provisioning, and entitlements for applications and tools
Promote adoption and support the ongoing evolution of team-provided services
Deliver end-user support and training for solutions and tools
Continuously evaluate automation trends to remain current on emerging technologies,
integrations, and tools
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for supported automation tools to enable
consistent engagement and reinforce best practices

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting automation solutions to ensure high
availability and reliable service performance
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent
4+ years military experience preferred
Work Experience 2+ years of:
Experience in an automation engineering role supporting internal or external customers, including
requirements gathering and business process design
Experience developing and supporting solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform including
Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI and Copilot Studio
Experience integrating Power Platform solutions with Microsoft 365 applications, including
Teams, SharePoint Online, and Power BI
Proficiency in training internal customers on automation solution development and adherence to
the established governance model
Working knowledge of Power Platform governance practices
Experience with API integrations within automation solutions
Experience with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) within the Microsoft Power Platform
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with modern data concepts (Database, Data Lakes, SQL) and Power BI development
preferred
