About the Role

Team Global Express is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Fitter to join our Engineering team at our Larapinta freight hub. This role is ideal for a tradesperson who enjoys solving complex mechanical issues, improving equipment reliability, and taking the lead within a small skilled engineering team.

Lead mechanical reliability for one of Southeast Queensland’s largest freight automation systems.

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving automated freight handling systems operating across Larapinta, Brisbane Airport, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast facilities.


About the role

  • This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity.

  • Monday to Friday schedule, with overtime available

  • Shifts - 3 Rotating shifts AM and PM (12pm – 8pm)

  • Rotating shifts: Morning and afternoon shift.

  • Hourly rate of $50.13/hr + 15% afternoon loading + penalties

  • Uniforms and all tools of trade provided.

  • Travel- Engineering service vehicle supplied for regional site servicing (Larapinta based).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance and troubleshooting of automated conveyor systems

  • Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance

  • Rapid fault diagnosis during operational breakdowns

  • Work closely with operations teams to maintain system reliability

  • Use MEX CMMS to manage maintenance tasks and reporting

  • Assist in developing maintenance strategies and procedures

  • Support improvement projects across freight handling systems

 

Ideal Background

  • Trade qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter

  • Experience with conveyor systems and automation equipment

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting ability

  • Experience in logistics, freight, distribution or manufacturing environments

  • Basic welding and fabrication skills

  • Experience with CMMS systems such as MEX

  • Current Australian driver's licence

 

Highly Regarded Experience

  • Automated freight or parcel handling systems

  • Distribution centre automation

  • High-speed conveyor belt tracking and tensioning

  • Mechanical reliability improvement work
