Residency Requirement: Must reside 25 miles of Fayetteville Operations Center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.) Perform all duties of lower classifications as required

2.) Install, maintain, and test intra-change, inter-change, and generating plant meters, instrument transformers, and associated equipment

3.) Install, maintain, and test satellite, land line, ethernet, and other remote metering and associated equipment

4.) Install, maintain and test loss compensated metering and associated equipment

5.) Install, maintain, test, and operate distribution system capacitors, regulators, reclosers, Alternate Feed Switches, and Line Voltage Monitors

6.) Install and maintain distribution grid control devices and automated metering and distribution grid network infrastructure

7.) Disconnect and reconnect secondary and primary services at the pole or transformer and replace primary fuses where applicable

8.) Perform a variety of special tests and inspections related to customer bill complaints, inquiries, and energy diversion investigations. Prepare related reports

9.) Assist with and perform distribution studies including inspection of distribution equipment, circuits, analysis, and preparing reports.

10.) Operate and perform work from aerial lift devices.

11.) Develop and provide employee training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education requirements are listed below: Associate’s degree in electrical/electronic technology. Equivalent education and experience is limited to military training and work experience of technical/technician nature (such as aviation and nuclear instrumentation technician).

Work Experience requirement listed below: 24 months as a Meter Electrician B

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: State Driver License. Must possess and maintain a medical certification card, if determined to be required by law.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1) Physical demand level is Not Yet Determined

2) To promote to this classification, individuals must successfully complete the Company training and qualification program for this classification including classroom instruction; written examination; job mentoring; and job performance demonstrations. This training and testing will occur during the minimum 24-month period that an employee will spend in the Meter Electrician B classification.

3) Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends

4) Work late shifts as needed

5) Work independently under general supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner

6) Proficiently use computers and applications related to this classification

7) Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner

8) Promote a positive image of the Company to customers and the general public

9) Comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct

10) Report hazards and abnormal conditions

11) Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees

12) Ability to walk long distances as determined by the Company

13) Ability to lift a 50-pound weight from the floor to a workbench

These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

Compensation Range:

$34.69 - $47.62

The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
