Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a METEOROLOGICAL TECHNICIAN-Title 5, Position Description Number 9G399 and is part of the WI CRTC, Wisconsin Air National Guard.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE:(l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-1341-09 level, you must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training in applying principles and procedures of various meteorological models and forecasting techniques. Expert in analysis of climatic regimes, geography, terrain features, weather system characteristics, centralized weather products, and indigenous surface and upper-air reports to produce mission-critical forecasts. Experienced in advising aircrews on weather impacts for takeoff, enroute operations, and destination conditions within the Area of Responsibility. Candidate must be proficient in identifying, evaluating, and integrating high-quality data sources to produce meteorological briefs utilizing communications channels and meteorological equipment, ensuring seamless delivery of automated bulletins and live, interactive weather products. Experience executing advanced meteorological analyses to solve forecasting challenges, interpret and adapt standard guidelines to develop mission-specific procedures for special flight operations and base weather stations. Candidate must be willing to participate and innovate in guiding a national level certification process providing instruction on meteorological tools and techniques. Experience observing, encoding, recording, disseminating, and evaluating weather observations such as using Air Force Meteorological systems such as Bifrost and AFWEBS.
