Minecraft Blast
Join our New Games Studio and help build the next generation of King experiences. We’re developing Minecraft Blast, a new casual puzzle adventure set in a playful interpretation of the Minecraft universe — and we’re looking for a talented Meta & Content Designer to shape the meta layers, live events, and story-driven content that bring the world of Minecraft Blast to life.
As a Meta & Content Designer, you will work closely with Creative Leadership and a cross-disciplinary team. You will design progression systems, story content, live events, quests and other features that create long-term engagement and emotional connection in a casual mobile game, all while staying true to the iconic charm of Minecraft.
In this role, you will help shape the long-term player experience of Minecraft Blast by crafting compelling meta systems, live events, and narrative-driven content. You will:
Collaborate with the Creative Director and Design Leads to define the game’s meta feature set and progression systems.
Work closely with Economy Designers to ensure monetisation is thoughtfully integrated into progression loops and events.
Design immersive content and event structures that deepen engagement and guide players through the game’s world whilst remaining appropriate for a board casual audience.
Uphold high standards of design quality while balancing technical and production constraints.
Clearly document features and systems, communicate progress, and incorporate feedback across all stages of development.
Analyse trends in the mobile market and share insights through regular playtesting and deconstructions.
Champion strong design practices across the team and contribute to the evolution of our design methods and tools.
Support production by breaking down design tasks, contributing to scheduling.
Track and communicate key design risks to the production team.
Stay informed on emerging industry innovations in casual meta design.
Seek and provide feedback through active participation in the wider design discipline.
Collaborate with humility, curiosity, and openness, always willing to learn from your peers and contribute to a supportive team culture.
Proven experience in casual game design, systems design, or content design, particularly within mobile free-to-play games.
Deep understanding of mobile platforms, player motivations, and long-term engagement patterns.
Strong grasp of free-to-play meta mechanics, progression systems, and live event design.
Ability to self-manage and stay motivated in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Unity is a strong advantage.
