Medical Records Associate is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and managing patient health records in accordance with federal regulations and facility policies. This is a hybrid position in NJ.
Core Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain Patient Records: collect, organize, and ensure accuracy of patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Documentation and Scanning: scan, upload, and index documents into EHR systems, ensuring proper labeling and categorization.
- Request Handling: Retrieve and deliver medical records as requested by physicians, nurses, and authorized personnel.
- Regulatory Compliance: Respond to information requests and release of information (ROI) requests in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable laws.
- Collaboration & Audits: Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve discrepancies and perform routine audits to ensure record accuracy.
- Confidentiality: Maintain security and confidentiality of patient information.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on changes in record-keeping standards and health information regulations.
- Active accordance with host organization EMR/Portal systems
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred
