As a Medical Receptionist I, you’ll be the first friendly connection for Aggies seeking care—greeting patients, answering phones, and helping students navigate their healthcare experience with confidence and ease. You’ll keep our clinics running smoothly by supporting efficient registration processes and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of experience in general office, medical office or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree
Two years’ experience in general office or personnel operations including one year experience working within a medical office. Prior EHR experience
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities
Patient Registration
Verify patient demographic information, collect co-pays and past-due balances, work patient waitlist, verify insurance, register patients for portal, check patients in/out. Scan insurance cards and IDs. Assist patients with kiosk.
Coordinates the check-in process for patients.
Monitors clinic schedule and ensures efficient patient flow.
Verifies and updates patient eligibility, demographics, and insurance information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Collects document signatures for compliance and insurance card scans.
Confirms TAMU student insurance eligibility for pharmacy and medical staff.
Customer Service
Handle phone calls from patients who need to schedule appointments to include adding new patients, verifying demographic information and insurance.
Route calls to clinical staff and enter phone notes as appropriate.
Helps to maintain patient flow and call trees in Patient Services and Preventive Medicine units.
Assists with complex scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling appointments, and routes patient calls.
Administrative Support
Various projects that can include, but not limited to, correcting denied claims due to registration errors, contacting patients related to upcoming visits, scheduling patients for wellness visits, and inputting demographics for hospital billers.
Acts as a liaison between registration/cashier,
Patient Services, Preventive Medicine and Insurance/Billing units.
Monitors inventory for the unit.
May assist with training of student employee staff.
