Strengthen the Medical–commercial operating interface to ensure Medical activity is externally focused, strategically aligned, and positioned to create greater value for stakeholders and customers.
2. Operational Excellence & Governance
Provide end-to-end leadership of International Medical initiatives, spanning project delivery, change management, process improvement, systems implementation, and operating model harmonisation.
Ensure Medical activities are executed with a high standard of quality, compliance, and governance, and are delivered on time, within budget, and in an audit-ready manner.
Identify structural opportunities to improve tools, systems, processes, and ways of working, and lead implementation of sustainable improvements across regions and TAs.
Establish governance mechanisms that enhance transparency, execution discipline, risk management, and alignment with regulatory and quality expectations.
3. Technology & Innovation Enablement
The Medical Innovation & Performance role serves as a strategic architect of technology-enabled Medical transformation—ensuring innovation is not pursued as experimentation alone, but as a disciplined lever for performance, insight, and scale.
Work with the Regional Head of SPO to shape the regional technology and innovation agenda, identifying where digital, data, analytics, and automation can materially improve planning, execution, measurement, and stakeholder engagement.
Translate emerging technologies into high-value Medical use cases, with a particular focus on opportunities that enhance insight generation, field effectiveness, content intelligence, operational productivity, and decision support.
Maintain a strong understanding of the evolving AI/ML landscape and its relevance to Medical Affairs, including areas such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, generative AI, knowledge retrieval, recommendation engines, and agentic workflow automation.
Partner with Medical Digital & Tech, and Enterprise IT teams to ensure Medical requirements are reflected in platform design, roadmap prioritisation, and enterprise solution architecture.
Lead innovation pilots, proofs of concept, and scaled deployments that improve the quality, speed, and consistency of Medical execution while remaining compliant and operationally sustainable.
4. Capability Building & Talent Development
Partner with Global Medical Capabilities and Global TA teams to design and implement capability-building programmes, training curricula, and certification pathways that advance Medical excellence.
Embed leadership expectations, continuous improvement disciplines, and competency frameworks across Medical teams to strengthen organisational effectiveness.
Develop talent proactively and foster a culture of high performance, inclusion, learning agility, and continuous improvement.

Strong understanding of contemporary AI/ML and digital technologies, including practical familiarity with domains such as machine learning, generative AI, large language models, natural language processing, predictive modelling, knowledge graphs, and intelligent automation, and the judgement to translate these capabilities into meaningful Medical use cases.
Experience in entrepreneurial, startup, venture-building, or similarly fast-scaling environments, with demonstrated comfort operating through ambiguity, testing new ideas rapidly, and converting innovation into tangible business value.
