Job title: Media Manager, China Communications

Reports to: Senior Director, Communications, APAC & China  

Role objective: Immersed in social media channels and thoughtful engagement. Responsible for social content ideation and development, community management, and integration into ongoing communications and marketing plans and tactics for China region aligned with the global business vision and strategy to engage customers, media, external stakeholders and employees, including a clear messaging framework. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Social content generation: Develop creative ideas and topics to generate content to promote Otis products and brand on social media, engaging and influencing target audience.
  • Content development: Write, or collaborate with copywriters and CoE teams, to develop content to communicate Otis products/services and brand value proposition, and identify appropriate external and internal channels to maximize PR mileage. External social channels should include WeChat, Tik Tok, Red Book, major search engines and other relevant media platforms. As needed, support traditional media outreach and engagement.
  • Measure: Identify and recommend ways to increase traffic and engagement and develop reporting methods and standards to track performance against established goals.
  • Community management: Responsible for social media community monitoring and management across WeChat, Tik Tok, Red Book and more. This includes posting and engaging with/responding to comments and direct messages as appropriate and raising issues for further management and discussion as needed to enhance the reputation of Otis products/services and the Otis brand. 

  • Crisis support: Help to protect the brand and manage crisis communications, partnering with global CoE to develop appropriate response plans and monitoring traditional media and social channels and comments to ensure a timely and appropriate response.
  • Thought leadership and reputation building: Partner with Otis China Communications Team, as well as global social media team to develop a (manageable) social platform and strategy for Otis China President and members of her leadership team. Help to grow executive visibility and thought leadership to advance corporate reputation and brand image via social channels and presence. Integrate social recommendations into ongoing PR/executive thought leadership efforts. Assess alignment and integration of leader POV in traditional media.

  • Employee engagement: Develop tactics and content to help engage China leaders and colleagues further promote and extend our reach across key social channels to support our products/services and brand across.

  • Events: Work with other members of the China (or global) Communications team to support important company events with a social strategy and content plan to integrate with more traditional promotional tactics such as PR/media to help elevate our products/services and brand.

Experience and Key Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of social media experience in China, preferably for large organizations with knowledge of the traditional media landscape too. 
  • Must be digitally savvy and able to keep up with the constantly evolving nature of social media.
  • Understands the 24/7 nature of social media; flexible and willing to monitor and engage in social conversations, including outside business hours when potential issues can arise.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment with a solid understanding of when to proactively escalate issues on social media.
  • Understands the benefits and risks of various social media platforms and provides thoughtful counsel about platform recommendations
  • Exhibits willingness to learn and to keep up with best practices for social engagement
  • Is flexible and willing to pivot as needed to ensure Otis’ social media presence is maximized
