Job Description
What you will do
- Independently develop experimental plans, lead study execution, analyze experimental data, generate laboratory protocols, and write technical reports, quantitative analyses, and product summaries
- Work on sophisticated and meaningful problems of broad scope where analysis of situations or data requires a comprehensive evaluation of numerous factors within daring timelines
- Troubleshoot and address complicated issues in the development and implementation of development projects
- Exercise practical judgment within broadly defined practices and policies and exhibit creativity and foresight in selecting approaches and techniques for acquiring solutions
- Research, develop, and embed new methods and technologies to elevate the efficiency of development workflows
- Actively capitalize on knowledge of industry trends to identify new opportunities for novel product offerings that address customer problems
- Maintain an accurate lab notebook to support protection of intellectual property in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards
- Stay highly skilled, keep up with new technologies, review scientific literature, attend seminars
- Present data at scientific conferences (external and internal) and prepare relevant publications
- Collaborate with various internal departments and industry leaders to launch new products
- Align with all company safety, training, and quality regulations (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.) and procedures
Education / Experience
- Ph.D. or similar qualification in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of work experience; master’s degree or equivalent in a related field with 5 years of hands-on practice
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Expertise in the methods and techniques of small-scale mammalian cell culture and associated with bioprocessing
- Expertise in data analysis, research development, troubleshooting, and the assessment of new techniques and procedures for manufacturing
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities (English and Mandarin) and the skill to interpret and summarize scientific findings clearly, concisely, and accurately
- Strong interpersonal abilities, such as efficiently assessing, ranking, and coordinating various projects and priorities
- Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties
- Demands the capability to handle chemicals and hazardous substances securely
- Should have the capability to operate during flexible hours and fulfill travel requirements up to 30%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior engagement in industrial contexts, specifically in optimizing processes and/or formulating cell culture media and expertise in statistical experimentation development (DOE)
- Understanding the chemical, biochemical, and physical interactions of cell culture media and reagent components
- Past exposure to cell culture involving cell lines commonly used in protein production tasks (e.g., CHO, HEK293, NS0)
- Familiarity with project management techniques including tracking of project progress, resources, and issues and previous experience leading small technical teams!
