Ferguson is seeking a Commercial RTU Sales Specialist to lead rooftop unit replacement strategy, drive revenue growth, and support field execution across commercial markets. The Commercial RTU Sales Specialist will partner with Outside Sales (Commercial, Mechanical, National Accounts, and FFS), Branch Operations, Manufacturers, and Leadership to develop, promote, and execute a structured RTU replacement sales strategy. The primary focus of this is: planned and emergency RTU replacement, light commercial and commercial rooftop systems, service contractor, mechanical contractor engagement, End-user and facility owner relationship development, Market share expansion in packaged HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with mechanical contractors, service HVAC contractors, facility managers, and national accounts.
- Prospect and grow RTU replacement business across defined territories.
- Identify aging equipment opportunities and create proactive replacement strategies.
- Assist Outside Sales in developing commercial HVAC project pipelines.
- Support quoting and equipment selection for rooftop unit replacements.
- Provide product expertise on commercial rooftop units (gas/electric, heat pump, VAV, high-efficiency, etc.).
- Conduct jobsite visits to verify sizing, application, curb adapters, electrical requirements, and lead times.
- Ensure accurate equipment selection aligned with brand strategy and margin targets.
- Monitor local market trends and competitor positioning within the RTU space.
- Collaborate with manufacturer representatives on training, promotions, and strategic alignment.
- Work closely with Branch Operations (warehouse, logistics, dispatch) to ensure flawless order-to-delivery execution.
- Coordinate lift scheduling, crane timing considerations, and equipment staging when necessary.
- Support emergency replacement scenarios to ensure rapid customer response.
- Maintain insight into inventory strategy for high-velocity RTU models.
- Attend counter days, trade shows, contractor events, and customer trainings.
- Educate contractors and end users on energy efficiency, rebate programs, and equipment upgrades.
- Promote value-added services such as curb adapters, controls upgrades, and extended warranties.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial HVAC sales or applied equipment experience preferred
- Solid understanding of rooftop units, tonnage sizing, airflow requirements, and gas/electric configurations
- Ability to interpret equipment schedules and basic mechanical plans
- Strong relationship-building skills with contractors and facility managers
- Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of leading a structured sales pipeline
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- General computer proficiency (CRM, quoting tools, manufacturer selection software)
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating cross-functionally

Pay Range:

$5,040.00 - $10,972.50

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
