Job Summary

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, to join our Philadelphia based NPI team who are bringing the next generation of global products to life for both Sky & Comcast. We are a global team of engineers. Each with our own personalities and strengths with one common goal. To bring the best products to our customers while going beyond the expectations of business stakeholders. Our team is responsible for products that make our services possible from start to finish. We support all aspects of NPI (new product introduction) from concept development through delivery. This position is fast paced, with opportunity for the candidate to work on a global scale. In this position you will have the ability to make positive impact at multiple touch points of the product life cycle with exposure to all levels of our business along the way.

Job Description

What you'll do 

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of stakeholders from concept to delivery of the product life cycle.
  • Work closely with industrial designers, hardware engineers, and product managers to present concept designs that help drive requirements development, pricing exercises, and decision making.
  • Oversee and review engineering solutions as presented by manufacturing partners for OEM and joint development ventures during execution phases of development programs.
  • Create fast and robust designs using 3D modelling applications to transform requirements into fully matured products.
  • Perform and/or review thermal and structural analysis to ensure physical design meets environmental and performance requirements 
  • Write specifications to ensure as delivered product meets high cosmetic and build quality standards expected of Sky & Comcast products. 
  • Champion mechanical design for sustainability, ease of repair, and assembly best practices.
  • Continually evaluate and improve designs for cost, quality, & manufacturing efficiency.  
  • React quickly to solve technical issues found during development and manufacturing phases of programs to maintain schedule and cost targets. 
  • Manage and communicate design progress of the fully integrated product to a wide range of stakeholders throughout the development cycle.
  • Support internal & external teams to ensure successful deployment of products globally 

What you'll bring 

  • Proficiency in developing parts and assemblies using 3D modelling software.
    • Solidworks preferred, similar application experience a must 
  • Ability to write and review technical product specifications as they pertain to physical aspects of product design.
  • Proactive attitude and problem-solving skills. 
  • Self-starter with willingness to continually develop technical skill set and take on new responsibility scope.
  • Team player with the ability to work as part of a small team and represent our team initiatives at higher organizational level.
  • Academic & practical understanding of mechanical design and applicable manufacturing processes as related to consumer products.
    • Academic or professional experience designing sheet metal, die cast, compression molded, or plastic injection molded components is a plus
    • Experience with hardware/electronics integration into consumer products is a plus
  • Knowledge of prototyping methods and ability to support development activities. 
  • Innovative thinking and ability to drive innovation within technical constraints.
