Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. This includes but is not limited to the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) tasks including receiving general guidance on where and how to identify items to be received, stored, and maintained. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Uses moderate physical effort while performing the various maneuvers involved in the operation of forklift and other material handling equipment. Is subject to strain caused by vibration of the machine. Frequently lifts and carries merchandise and supplies that weighs up to, but seldom in excess of 70 pounds. Help is normally available for weights in excess of 70 pounds. Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Works in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, and/or poorly lighted. Works in bad weather such as outside areas and open docks. The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. Work is performed in close quarters in warehouse aisles and docks. Is exposed to injury through careless storing and stacking of material. Is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises while performing the job.
