Material Planning Supervisor

TSC is seeking a forward-thinking & highly motivated Material Planning Supervisor to oversee the material planning process, ensuring the availability of materials for production while optimizing inventory levels and driving strategic improvements. The ideal candidate will act as a key liaison between Procurement, Production, and Program Management Teams, providing leadership and expertise to support the successful execution of TSC’s contracts. This is an onsite position supporting TSC’s Huntsville AL location reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage advanced material requirements plans (MRP) to support complex production schedules and contract deliverables.
  • Analyze long-term demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory trends to ensure material availability and cost efficiency.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address material planning challenges and implement solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for material planning issues, providing guidance to junior planners and procurement teams.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials.
  • Develop strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce excess and obsolete inventory, and minimize waste.
  • Work closely with Production and Program Management teams to address material shortages and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Adjust material plans to accommodate changes in production schedules, contract requirements, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance material planning efficiency and accuracy.
  • Leverage data analytics, MRP system capabilities, and industry best practices to drive innovation in material planning processes.
  • Manage daily activities of direct reports.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in material planning, supply chain management, or production planning, in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Extensive experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g. Deltek CostPoint, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Advanced understanding of material planning processes, inventory management principles, and supply chain optimization.
  • Familiarity with defense industry supply chain challenges and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
