Job Description

  

Material Planner

The Material Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and tracking the flow of materials throughout the production cycle. This role reviews material requirements based on engineering specifications and production schedules, ensuring timely and efficient movement of materials in coordination with purchasing, production, and engineering teams. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate procurement data within business systems, creating and updating bills of material, and managing part and commodity numbers in supply chain or enterprise-wide systems to ensure data integrity.

What you’ll do

  • Manage on-time-delivery and consignment bin levels to customer requirement

  • Perform Inventory improvement projects as assigned

  • Manage Production Requirements Planning (PRP) in SAP, and other SIOP programs

  • Work Collaboratively with Value Stream personnel on Jobs and Customer Orders

  • Manage Subcontractor production schedule and material flow

  • Communicate raw material requirements to support production for Customer Orders

  • Monitor and maintain First Article requirements

  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Teledyne Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate

  • Carries out special projects and all other appropriate and reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.

  • Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Operations

  • Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S

  • Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments

  • Perform other duties as assigned by department management

  • Ability to handle internal customer situations, which are sometimes time critical in a logical manner and resolve issues resourcefully and tactfully

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

  • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment

  • Must be able to pay close attention to details

  • Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision

What you need

  • Associates degree in Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience; Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years or production planning experience and MRP (Materials Requirement Planning)

  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus

  • Desire and willingness to be held accountable for business results

  • Strong Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, is required

  • Excel database, Power Query and Power BI experience a plus

  • SAP experience is preferred

  • Display a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Occasionally lift or carry items such as files, office supplies, or small packages (typically up to 10–20 lbs)

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods (typically 6–8 hours per day)

  • Ability to use hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment

  • Ability to hear and understand speech in person and over the phone

  • Ability to move within the office environment, including walking short distances to attend meetings or retrieve documents
