Material Handler (Forklift Certified) – Temporary Assignment

Job Summary

KBR is seeking a Material Handler in Danville, KY. This temporary, 90-day assignment plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient movement, storage, and handling of materials in support of operational and production needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and other designated light equipment to move, load, unload, and stage materials safely and efficiently
  • Support daily material handling operations in warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing environments
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Receive work assignments, instructions, and direction from the Foreman or General Foreman
  • Operate and support light equipment as required, which may include forklifts, skid steers, frontend loaders, tractors, rollers, scrapers, buses, or semi-trucks
  • Perform routine checks of equipment and report issues or safety concerns promptly
  • Maintain organized work areas and assist with inventory flow as needed
  • Perform additional duties and activities as assigned to support operational requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid forklift certification
  • Typically 2–5 years of related material handling or industrial experience
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance
  • Familiarity with automated systems and industrial machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, sensors, and actuators
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, industrial environment
  • Ability to work onsite and support 1st shift operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field
  • Experience with robotic palletizers, carousels, and pick-and-place robots
  • Knowledge of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS)
  • Hands-on experience with AGVs and robotic systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools
  • OSHA safety training or equivalent certification
