About you and this role
Dow has an exciting opportunity as a Marketing Manager within our Packaging & Specialty Plastics (P&SP) business unit, located in Houston, (TX).
In this role, you will be responsible for accelerating and managing long-term growth strategies within flexible packaging applications. You will lead the development and execution of market plans designed to capture growth in priority, high-value segments. This includes defining strategies for your assigned segments, managing market plan execution, and leading cross-functional application teams to drive success. You will also foster relationships across the value chain to strengthen Dow’s market presence and partner with Technical Service (TS) counterparts to advance the innovation pipeline.
You will work closely with a Marketing Director in flexible packaging and collaborate with the cross-functional Market Management Team (MMT) to deliver results. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact by driving growth in a dynamic area of Dow’s growth strategy.
Responsibilities:
Strategy Implementation:
- Develop sub-market strategies and ensure implementation through engagement with Sales/TS functions
- Create multi-year action plans to bring product solutions or business models to market by reaching target customers
- Track progress against key segment deliverables and collaborate with Sales to achieve target market share, price performance, and delivery of sales plan
- Update pricing and product positioning based on quantified value propositions
Cross-functional Team Leadership:
- Manage Application Development Teams (ADT’s) for segments of focus
- Ensure full understanding and execution of the strategy by all adjacent functional focal points in Sales, Product Management, TS, and R&D
- Play a key role on the MMT by ensuring ADT learnings are addressed and aligned with the MMT’s strategic priorities
Customer/Value Chain Engagement:
- Become a Subject Matter Expert in segments of focus
- Create and utilize direct customer and value chain relationships to:
- Gain market insights
- Establish industry credibility for Dow
- Identify unmet needs
- Validate new products and value propositions
Innovation Management:
- Manage the innovation pipeline and progress projects through development stages
- Drive front end market research to charter projects to meet new opportunities
- Execute successful launch of matured projects with support materials to articulate value propositions
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- A minimum of a 5 years of relevant working experience.
- Willingness to travel 50% domestically.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Your Skills:
- Experience in customer facing roles and film applications is highly desired.
- Go To Market Strategies: Strategy development is the process of creating an action plan that specifies how a company will bring a set of product solutions or business model to market by reaching target customers and achieving competitive advantage.
- Cross Functional Team Leadership: Refers to leading a group of people with different functional expertise working toward a common goal.
- Business Case Analysis: Provides a best value analysis that considers not only cost but other quantifiable and non-quantifiable factors supporting an investment decision.
- New Product Development: Managing the overall process of conceptualizing, designing, planning, and commercializing a new product in an effort to bring it to market.
- Market Research: Organized efforts to gather information about target markets and customers. Identify and analyze the needs of the market, size, and competition.
- Market Environment: Interpreting and managing the factors and forces such as political, social, or economic, that affect a firm’s ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Proactive Approach: Self-initiated behavior that endeavors to solve a problem before it has occurred. It involves acting in advance of future situation rather than reacting.
