About the role:
We’re looking for a highly adaptable, conversion-focused Senior Marketing Designer who will also help lead and mentor a small team of designers based in India. In this hybrid role, you’ll spend the majority of your time (70%) driving high-impact creative work across key marketing channels, while dedicating part of your time (30%) to overseeing, mentoring, and supporting the India design team to ensure quality, alignment, and growth.
As an individual contributor, you’ll bring our brand to life across email, paid/organic social, affiliate, decks, landing pages, and animation—with a strong focus on supporting our Partnerships business. This means designing thoughtfully for the agents who sell life insurance, creating clear, compelling materials that help them understand our products, communicate value, and succeed in their role. You’ll balance this agent-first work with consumer-facing creative, adapting your design approach to different audiences and goals.
As a design manager, you’ll act as both a mentor and a quality gatekeeper. You’ll use your strong taste level to provide precise, actionable feedback, guiding designers toward sharper, more strategic work. You’ll help set priorities, manage daily workflows, and collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, growth, and product stakeholders. You’ll also be deeply detail-oriented—reviewing and QA’ing email proofs daily to ensure accuracy, brand alignment, and design excellence. Above all, you’ll create an environment where designers can grow their craft while consistently delivering high-quality work.
This is a role for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, takes full ownership from concept to execution, and is energized by both hands-on design and supporting the success of others. You’ll work closely with marketers, writers, and channel stakeholders to deeply understand what’s needed—then deliver smart, polished solutions that are both on-brand and built to perform.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual Contributor (70%)
- Design a high volume of performance-driven marketing content, from concept to execution—including email campaigns, social media ads, landing pages, affiliate creative, decks, digital ads, company material, and animations.
- Apply and evolve the Ethos brand across key marketing channels, ensuring every touchpoint—email, lifecycle, social, advertising, landing pages, and events—feels consistent, elevated, and strategically tailored to its audience and platform.
- Bring animation and motion design into the marketing toolkit, helping add energy, clarity, and polish across digital surfaces.
- Adapt seamlessly between Consumer-facing and Partner (agent) creative, understanding the nuances of each audience and collaborating with different internal teams to deliver effective, on-brand work that supports distinct goals and messaging strategies.
- Support creative for new product launches and evolving product lines, designing assets that clearly communicate value, drive engagement, and align with go-to-market strategy across various product types and customer segments.
- Partner closely with marketing, growth, and product design teams to craft compelling visual stories through thoughtful use of iconography, typography, photography, animation, and infographics.
- Take initiative in shaping strategic design direction, proactively pitching and executing ideas that align with business objectives and enhance the user experience.
- Lead high-impact projects from brief through execution in a fast-paced, dynamic environment—balancing speed, quality, and adaptability.
Design Management (30%)
- Provide clear, actionable creative direction to the India-based design team, leveraging a strong taste level and sharp design eye to guide work toward higher craft, clarity, and performance.
- Deliver specific, detailed feedback that not only improves design output but also helps team members grow their own ability to think strategically and execute at a high standard.
- Oversee daily workflows and prioritization, ensuring the team focuses on the most impactful projects and delivers work on time and to spec.
- Review and QA email proofs daily, meticulously checking for accuracy, brand consistency, design quality, and production readiness.
- Ensure consistency and excellence in design quality, upholding brand standards while adapting to different audiences (consumer vs. agent/partnership).
- Mentor designers one-on-one, helping them sharpen their design thinking, grow confidence, and expand their skills.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, growth, product, and partnerships stakeholders—helping translate business needs into clear design direction for the team.
- Act as the bridge between the U.S. and India design teams, ensuring smooth communication, alignment, and knowledge sharing across time zones.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 6–8+ years of experience in marketing design, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking, visual craft, and performance-driven work
- Exceptional design taste level with a sharp eye for detail, craft, and consistency across brand systems and marketing channels.
- Proven ability to give precise, actionable feedback and direction, helping elevate design quality while coaching others toward stronger outcomes.
- Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency with motion design or animation
- Deep understanding of marketing funnels, audience segmentation, and channel best practices
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with an ability to clearly explain design decisions
- Proven experience designing conversion-oriented marketing materials that balance craft and performance
- Demonstrated ability to lead design projects end-to-end—from insights and ideation to execution and iteration
- Skilled in storytelling, visual hierarchy, and audience-first thinking—able to clearly communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact
- Comfortable working across multiple product types and audiences (e.g., Consumer and Partner/Agent), and quickly shifting between different brand voices and goals
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, growth, and product teams, building strong relationships and aligning creative to broader business strategies
- Thrives in a fast-paced, feedback-rich environment with shifting priorities and evolving goals
- Highly organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly
- Extremely detail-oriented, with proven experience in quality assurance review of digital creative (especially email proofs).
- Receptive to feedback and collaborative in an iterative design process
- Experience in DTC, fintech, or financial services industries preferred
