Job Summary: Get ready to dive into the world of marketing magic! The Marketing Assistant works closely with the Marketing Director to create marketing campaigns, design media assets, and keep web and social platforms on trend. This position is responsible for maintaining internal ticketing systems, and communicating with managers and customers to create marketing promotions and strategies. Occasional unsociable duty hours (nights, weekends, etc.) required for special events.

Major Duties:

  • Marketing Assistant (Developmental): Assists in the administrative duties associated with planning, initiating, and implementing a comprehensive marketing program including public relations, advertising, research, and commercial sponsorship. Assists with the coordination of MWR publicity through newsletters, newspapers, plans of the day, brochures, posters, and other media sources. Prepares draft articles for newspapers and newsletters. Assists in researching and developing resources available to provide cost effective and profitable programs, events, promotions, and activities. Assists in the preparation of brochures, flyers, posters, videos, newsletters, and other media sources. Ensures media distribution. Maintains calendar of command events to assist with coordination and promotion. Performs a variety of clerical assistant tasks such as controlling correspondence, preparing routine correspondence, responding to telephone inquiries, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Marketing Assistant (Target Level): Supports the development and implementation of marketing initiatives for the Services Squadron. Working under the guidance of the Marketing Specialist, contributes to identifying and executing marketing strategies aimed at improving efficiency, boosting participation, and increasing revenue for Services activities. Participates in both qualitative and quantitative market research, utilizing standard industry practices, specialized software, and customized research tools tailored for local needs. Administers surveys, gathers and organizes data, and collaborates with the Marketing Specialist in analyzing findings. Monitors consumer trends and communicates their relevance to ongoing activities, recommending program adjustments and enhancements as needed. Contributes to the creation of training programs for Services employees on topics related to marketing, including marketing processes, advertising strategies, customer relations, and media techniques. Attends major Services Squadron events, providing actionable marketing insights to activity managers. Assists in the execution of advertising campaigns by gathering information on upcoming events, special programs, and offers, and supports the development of communication strategies to effectively reach target markets. Advises activity managers on the design of advertising materials and the selection of appropriate media channels. Assists in planning marketing campaigns, considering the characteristics of target audiences and the optimal media mix. Collaborates with on- and off-base media in coordination with the Public Affairs Office and arranges photographic support for Services functions. Prepares and delivers presentations for base events such as newcomers' orientation and Commander's calls. Performs additional related duties as assigned, with potential travel required. Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN RESUME): NF-02 (Entry Level): Must have experience in responsible clerical and office work, which provided knowledge of basic computer operations. Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Automation (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with Adobe Suite is highly desirable, but not required. Must possess skill in dealing with customers and public. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Occasional unsociable duty hours (nights, weekends, etc.) required for special events. NF-03 (Full Performance Level): In addition to the above, Experience which provides a general knowledge of marketing/advertising principles and practices. Experience must demonstrate the ability to perform research, select, arrange and compose material and maintain well-organized files. Must have specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to design and layout advertising copy and artwork using WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Experience developing, conducting and analyzing market research information. Ability to read, write and speak English. Must possess skill in dealing with customers and public.
